The Shiromani Akali Dal is a political party founded on democratic principles, with the aim of creating an environment that ensures a better standard of living, equality, and justice for all sections of society in a democratic and peaceful manner, while specifically safeguarding the rights of national minorities and in particular the Sikh community.

The Shiromani Akali Dal believes that India is a federal and republican geographical entity, inhabited by people of different languages, religions, and cultures.

To protect the fundamental rights of religious and linguistic minorities, uphold democratic traditions, and advance the path of economic progress, it becomes essential to give the Indian constitutional framework a truly federal character. For this, the relationship and division of powers between the Centre and the States must be redefined on the basis of the above principles and objectives.
