The Shiromani Akali Dal has always upheld the policy of communal harmony and brotherhood within the state. That is why, under the leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal–BJP government in Punjab, the ‘Chief Minister Pilgrimage Yatra Scheme’ was launched in January 2016, under which 11 new trains were started for various pilgrimages.
The first pilgrimage train under this scheme departed from Sri Amritsar Sahib railway station to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib on 1 January 2016.
No other state in India has done as much as Punjab to promote green energy. The credit for this goes to the visionary leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal. At Dera Beas, Amritsar, the world’s largest solar energy plant was established. Spread over more than 21 acres, it is considered one of the largest rooftop solar energy plants in the world.
Keeping in mind the state’s electricity and energy needs, the Punjab government, led by the Shiromani Akali Dal, decided to expand the solar energy plant, which has a total production capacity of 9 megawatts…
The Shiromani Akali Dal worked hard for the interests of traders. As a relief to small traders, it worked to end the ‘Inspector Raj’. The Relief Scheme (Rahat Yojana) was launched in Punjab in 2014, under which traders with a turnover of less than ₹1 crore were exempted from VAT assessment by the Excise Department.
The Rahat Yojana was extended to all urban areas, and a helpline 1800-258-2580 was launched to register complaints and suggestions from the trader community.
The Punjab government, led by the Shiromani Akali Dal, emerged as a beacon of administrative reforms for the entire country, by establishing Farad Kendras, Sanjh Kendras, and Sewa Kendras to eliminate corruption. These initiatives greatly improved the efficiency of the administration and enhanced the accessibility of government services to empower the common man.
The steps taken by the state government through these initiatives were also appreciated by the Central Government, under which, for abolishing affidavits in 88 services, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi honored Punjab with the “Best Administrative Services” award.
To make Punjab an investor-friendly destination and to position the state as a preferred choice for doing business, the Shiromani Akali Dal worked tirelessly. During the Akali Dal government in 2007, the number of industrial units in the state rose from 5,000 to over 11,000, effectively countering the misleading propaganda of the opposition.
By reducing electricity tariffs, the Shiromani Akali Dal government provided relief and support to both small- and large-scale industries, boosting investment and industrial growth in Punjab.
