Sukhbir Singh Badal (born July 9, 1962) has been the president of Shiromani Akali Dal since 2008. A young and dynamic politician, he served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab from 2009 to 2017, steering the state’s political affairs. He takes pride in being the son of former Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal.

Sukhbir Singh Badal holds the distinction of becoming the youngest-ever president of Shiromani Akali Dal. With his unwavering determination, strong work ethic, and leadership qualities, he rose to this position and is now counted among the most prominent leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal. Over the years, Sukhbir Singh Badal has launched numerous initiatives aimed at public welfare. Through the expansion of various wings of the party, he infused new energy into the organization, taking it beyond ethnic and cultural boundaries.

The Punjab Assembly elections of 2012 hold special significance in Sukhbir Singh Badal’s political career, as under his leadership, Shiromani Akali Dal achieved an unprecedented victory, dispelling for the first time the myth of anti-incumbency in Punjab. This remarkable electoral success validated his leadership capabilities, affirming to the people that the Akali Dal-led government’s agenda was “Development for All.”
